ATLANTA – A Six Flags Over Georgia supervisor has soared to new heights with a Goliath of a Georgia Lottery prize. Matthew Starks Jr. of Lithonia won $1 million playing Powerball in the Sept. 7 drawing.

Starks matched the first five winning numbers in the drawing, but not the Powerball, good for the game’s second prize. By selecting the Power Play option for $1, Starks increased his prize from $200,000 to $1 million.

Winning numbers from the Powerball drawing were: 3-5-18-27-54 and the Powerball was 13. Covington Food Mart, 6470 Covington Highway in Lithonia, sold the Quik Pik ticket.

“I won $35 from the Mega Millions drawing and used some of that to buy this ticket,” he shared.

The boost for winning the prize, Starks said, was the amount.

“I’ll be paying off bills and helping my daughter through college,” he exclaimed.

Starks, 57, shared the good news with his wife, Wanda, on her birthday Tuesday.
