Lilburn girl, 8, seizes opportunity to Bless Others

Lilburn --  When 8-year-old Danielle Metzger learned about the poor families her grandfather helps internationally through the relief and development organization Food For The Poor, she took the cause to heart.

Danielle said, her parents agreed that, “this was an opportunity that God was giving me to help others,” after reading a letter from her grandfather.

Danielle and her parents, Ryan and Natalie Metzger, recently traveled from Lilburn, Ga., to Coconut Creek, Fla. to deliver a check to the nonprofit. The money, donated by K-2nd graders at Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, will purchase a bee hive, three pigs, 20 chickens, 100 pounds of rice and beans, four fruit trees, and feed a child for a month in Haiti.

Danielle’s new goal is to raise $3,200 to build a home with sanitation for a destitute family. To support Danielle’s house-building initiative, tax-deductable donations can be made through the charity’s secure website at www.FoodForThePoor.org/danielle.

At Food For The Poor, Danielle stood on a chair next to her grandfather, Alan Metzger, as they shared her story with Food For The Poor employees. This was not Danielle’s first time to address a large group of adults. To kick-start her initiative at Providence Christian Academy, Danielle presented information about the nonprofit to teachers and Principal Connie Adams in the school’s library.

"Danielle did an amazing job," Adams said. “It was wonderful to hear Jesus through her.”
