Cheerleaders and staff were out in “Force” once again last Saturday, working with Habitat for Humanity.

It was a beautiful sunny day in Atlanta as Force members volunteered their time to a great cause. Several cheerleaders put their balance to the test by working in the rafters, ensuring the structural safety of the house. Others worked to make the home beautiful and keep it dry for years to come by installing siding around the house. They were not alone, however. The Force group worked with dozens of volunteers from all over Atlanta who gave their time to make a difference in their community.

The build ran from early morning to about 3 pm when Habitat leaders were extremely pleased with the progress made by the volunteer groups.

“Being a member of the Georgia Force is not just about football,” said Georgia Force General Manager, Chris Hendley. “It is also about giving back to the community. Giving back is something I have always felt very strongly about, so I was very excited when our cheerleading coordinator Joie Ashworth brought this opportunity to us. The group of our cheerleaders and our front office staff jumped in and hung siding as well as worked on the interior framing of the house. I can tell you that for myself and my wife, Leslie, it was a wonderful experience to learn more about Habitat for Humanity and to know that Habitat isn’t a ‘hand out’ but a ‘hand up’. The best part about volunteering on a project like this is that you know you are making a difference in someone’s life.”
