DeKalb's Park & Rec director, Marvin Billups Inducted into Hall of Fame

DECATUR –Marvin Billups, DeKalb County’s Deputy Director of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, was inducted into the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) Hall of Fame as its 38th member at a recent annual conference.

“Marvin Billups is an asset to DeKalb County in the level of professionalism and excellence he brings to the table every day,” said DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis.  “I am very pleased that he is being recognized by his peers for his lifelong achievements.”

Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Director Roy Wilson added, “I’ve known Marvin personally and professionally for over 20 years and consider it an extreme honor to serve with him in leading our department as we strive for even greater successes.”

Billups’ career began as a City of Atlanta Recreation Supervisor, and he held several positions within the department including Acting Director. He has also served as Director of Parks and Recreation in the City of Charlotte, North Carolina; Division Chief with the Maryland-National Capitol Park and Planning Commission in Prince George’s County, Maryland; and Director Baltimore City Recreation and Parks Department, Baltimore, Maryland.
