Stephenson High School student gunned down | News
LITHONIA, Ga. -- Police are searching for suspects after a 17-year-old Stephenson High School student was gunned down in front of his home Wednesday night.
Rakwon Reid was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in the chest. DeKalb Police officers responded to shots fired calls in the 700 block of Shore Drive just after 9:15 p.m.
According to police, family members at the scene stated after hearing several gunshots they went outside only to find Reid lying on the ground.
DeKalb School spokesman, Quinn Hudson said Reid was a Stephenson High School student. Social workers and counselors were reportedly made available at the school.
The investigation is ongoing. 11Alive is working to gather more information about Reid and the circumstances surrounding his death.
A funeral for the teen will be held March 12 at the Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia at 11 a.m. The family has set-up a gofundme page to help pay for funeral expenses.
