DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A gang member charged with killing a baby in DeKalb County has been sentenced to life plus 20 years in prison.

Devin Thomas plead guilty Monday in theMay 2014 shooting death of 9-month-old Kendarious Edwards. His plea allowed him to avoid the death penalty.

Thomas, 20, will be eligible for parole in 50 years.

Back in 2014, DeKalb County police charged Thomas and 36-year-old Marco Watson with one count of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

Prosecutors said the baby's death was retaliation for the shooting death of a fellow gang member.

After entering his guilty plea, Thomas apologized to Kendarious Edwards' family.
