Uber driver's quick thinking leads to Days Inn shooters' capture
News

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Three suspects are in police custody after a man was shot in the head Tuesday morning at a Stone Mountain Days Inn, but police credit the quick-thinking of an Uber driver for the suspects' capture.

A span of four hours and nearly 30 miles separated a shooting at a Stone Mountain hotel from when police tracked down those responsible.

Police said after the suspects robbed room 116 and shot a man, they took the victim's car and drove to a Waffle House in Conyers. That's where they left it -- and called an Uber driver to take them up to Snellville on Newton Crest Circle. That driver sensed something suspicious and called 911 with the address of the Snellville home where he left the suspects.

Investigators don't know why the man was targeted by the suspects. They said he and three other men from North Carolina were staying at the hotel because they were doing work locally.
