LITHONIA, Ga. -- Seven adults with special needs and their driver were transported to the hospital after their van was hit by a car running a red light.

The van was traveling to the Dembure Personal Care Home in Decatur when the driver of a Chevy Malibu turned in front of the van, causing it to roll over.

It happened at Rogers Lake Road and Lithonia Industrial Boulevard just after 8:00 am.

A spokesman with the Dembure Personal Care Home told 11Alive's Jennifer Leslie no one was seriously injured. All passengers went to Grady Memorial hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver went to DeKalb Hillandale with a possible broken wrist. The spokesman also said the driver ran the red light while distracted by his GPS device. The driver was charged with failure to yield.
