Fairington Elementary School reopens

LITHONIA, Ga. -- A DeKalb County elementary school damaged by fire will reopen Monday morning.

Fairington Elementary School has been closed since Jan. 17, when a fire broke out in a kindergarten classroom. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.

Students at the school had last week's classes at nearby Miller Grove High School. DeKalb County Schools spokesman Quinn Hudson said the students will begin returning to their usual classrooms at 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Police have released surveillance images of a suspect in the fire, but have not yet identified the person or made any arrests. Anyone with information in this case is encouraged to call the DeKalb County School System's Department of Public Safety at 678-676-1810.
