Facebook page wants to help catch 18-year-old Honey Malone's killer

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- According to her sister, 18-year-old Vanessa Malone wanted to be in show business.

She wanted to be famous one day.

Thanks to a Facebook page that has more than 120,000 "Likes" in just one week, she is now known all over America and in some foreign countries.

Thousands have been touched by her untimely death and her family's wish to find out why.

"Why kill her?" her sister said to 11 Alive News.

"Why did others, how did they get loose?" Cassaundra Pierce added.

She and her family want to know more details about her sister's murder 9 days ago.

"Honey", as everyone called her, went to visit some friends at the Hampton Village Apartments in Stone Mountain around 10 pm on October 23rd.

According to a DeKalb County Police report, she walked right into the middle of a home invasion and a group of armed men shot her several times when she tried to flee.

The couple being robbed were tied up, but not hurt.

"This is such a senseless act and then for it to be she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, you know, maybe...but maybe not," her sister said.

"She didn't care about the way you looked; she didn't care about how smart you were; she didn't care about what people thought about you," friend Keah Clayton told 11 Alive News.

Like many of "Honey's" friends, Clayton described her as a social butterfly who everyone liked.

Clayton launched a Facebook page a week ago called "R.I.P. Honey", to honor her memory and to urge people to help solve the case.

She's amazed at how many people all over the world have joined in.

"People seen her story and kinda got attached to see she was so young and things happened so bad," Clayton said.

So far, police have no suspects in "Honey" Malone's murder, but her family wants justice.

"We want not just the killer, you know, arrested, we want everyone involved," said Cassaundra Pierce.
