1st Country Living Magazine Festival in Stone Mountain Park

Atlanta, GA--  This Country Living Festival event is said to have great shopping with over 150 booths of antiques and hand-crafted goods, plus a Gourmet Harvest Market and a Country Living General Store.  The fair takes place October 22nd to the 24th at Stone Mountain Park.  Tickets are available on line and at the gate.

'Students Without Mothers' Charity Poker Tournament

Atlanta, GA--  In November, Students Without Mothers will host two events to raise funds supporting the organization's mission to provide college scholarships to high school students who have lost their mothers.  The First Annual Students Without Mothers "Beat the Odds" Poker Tournament will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at Smoke Rise Country Club in Stone Mountain.

Registration begins at 6 p.m. and cards fly at 7 p.m. If you're a beginner who wants to learn, be sure to get to the club in time for the lesson, which start at 6:30 p.m.

The Students Without Mothers "Beat the Odds" Poker Tournament is hosted by Reginald and Lynne Prime. Reginald Prime is the Board Chair for Students Without Mothers and Director of Environmental Affairs for Coca-Cola Enterprises, Inc. The press release for this event is attached for your reference.

Battle of Atlanta Dog Competition Sponsored by US K9 Group is Saturday Oct. 16th

Atlanta, GA--  USk9 group is a professional organization of dog trainers that specialize in the area of personal protection.

Dogs are no doubt one of the oldest and most trusted forms of personal protection known to mankind. The US K9Group educates individuals on how to properly train their dogs and what a properly trained dog can do to protect the owner and his/her property.

On Saturday, October 16th the K9 Group will be holding its annual Battle of Atlanta Dog Competition at Henderson Park in Stone Mountain, and invites everyone including families to come out and see the dogs and their special skills.  The group wants people to know that there are alternatives to handguns in the home for personal protection, and encourages people to take part in the celebration this Saturday.

 

Cooks bring their best chili recipes to Stone Mountain Park

Atlanta, GA--  Cooks from across metro Atlanta competed in the Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off 2010. The event, which featured hundreds of booths offering chili samples, was held at Stone Mountain Park. Howard Crew Chili & Stew placed first in the 31st annual competition. 31st Annual Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off at Stone Mountain, Sept. 25th

Atlanta, GA--  The 31st annual Great Miller Lite Chili Cook-Off will once again descend upon picturesque Stone Mountain, Ga. on Saturday, September 25 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dekalb Commissioner Sharon Sutton and Bernice King Led 3K Walk to Overcome Ovarian Cancer

Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, September 18 at Wade Walker Park in Stone Mountain, Dekalb's Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton hosted the "Overcome Ovarian Cancer 3k Walk".

The purpose of the event was to simply increase awareness about detection and prevention of ovarian cancer.  The Commissioner nominated Elder Bernice King, Martin Luther King's daughter, as Honorary Chair of the event and she came out to attend and further progress the mission of cancer awareness.

Dekalb Commissioner Sutton said that, "ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the US. It is important that we disseminate information to the public so they can learn about the warning signs."
