Atlanta, GA--  (Submitted by FODAC)  All proceeds benefit Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC).  Santa will take a break from holiday preparations on Saturday, Dec. 4 when he comes to Stone Mountain for the annual “Breakfast With Santa” at the Stone Mountain Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort. 

Guests will enjoy a gourmet breakfast buffet, an all-attractions pass to Stone Mountain Park and an opportunity to meet and take photos with Santa Claus. 

“This is the eighth year we’ve hosted Breakfast with Santa, and it’s an event that families return to over and over again,” said Chris Brand, executive director of FODAC. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together enjoying the magic of Santa Claus, as well as an important fundraiser for our organization.

For families looking for a winter staycation, they can stay right at the park with Marriott hotel packages for Stone Mountain Christmas. Family packages start at $199 and include breakfast and Stone Mountain Christmas tickets good for two days.

Last Day for United Way's Online Auction with special VIP Gifts

Atlanta, GA--  Just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is sponsoring “Gift Back: An Online Auction” for the first time.  Dozens of items and packages will be available for bids from Nov. 26 through Dec. 6, 2010, by logging on to unitedwayatlanta.org.

Anyone wishing to nab one or more of the wonderful items, donated by local and national organizations, should bid and bid often to increase their chances of winning. Once bidding ends Dec. 6 at midnight, those with winning bids will be contacted by a United Way representative.

This is a public auction.  Funds will go toward reaching the United Way 2010 fundraising goal of $80.2 million. Some of the items available for bids include a trip to Super Bowl, tickets to the Tony Awards, Emmy Awards, Cancun getaway, a night with the Atlanta Braves, artwork, collectibles, airline tickets, Olympics paraphernalia and much, much more.

Atlanta, GA--  Georgia’s most visited attraction, Stone Mountain Park, opens its popular Stone Mountain Christmas attraction, with thousands of guests on site to experience millions of holiday lights, new and returning live holiday shows, meet St. Nick and see the park’s famed Snow Angel fly overhead as snow falls at CrossRoads, the in-park attraction.  Stone Mountain Christmas is open weekends now through Christmas.

Snow Mountain opens Dec. 11.

Kaylin Reque of Suwanee Wins Miss Georgia USA , Kristen Robinson of Stone Mountain Wins Miss GA Teen

Atlanta, GA--  Kaylin Reque, 22, of Suwanee, won Miss Georgia USA this past weekend at the Woodland Performing Arts Center in Cartersville.  Kaylin, a graduate of North Gwinnett High School  proudly represented her home town in the pageant as Miss Suwanee, USA.

The other notable winner was Miss Teen Georgia, which went to the Stone Mountain resident Kristen Robinson.  11Alive News' own, Paul Ossmann was the MC of the large event and was delighted that Ms. Reque won.

DeKalb County Public Safety Officials and Business Community Partner to Combat Crime

Atlanta, GA--  (submitted by ehburton@dekalbcountyga.gov) Various DeKalb County public safety officials, county officials and local business leaders have partnered to create a "Crime & Coffee" workshop on December 2, at 8:30 a.m. at the Northlake Doubletree Hotel located at 4156 Lavista Road. The free hour-long workshop includes presentations from various public safety officials, a Q&A session and a complimentary continental breakfast.
