The D.M. Therrell High School Alumni Scholarship Awards $1,000 Towards Books -- Deadline July 15th

ATLANTA -- "What's Happenin' in SWAT (SW ATL)..." Did you know... This year, in continuing a legacy of 'Panther Pride' and service for future generations, the D.M. Therrell High School (THS) Alumni Association will fund a Therrell High School Alumni 2011 Scholarship. 

The D.M. Therrell High School Alumni Scholarship will award $1,000 towards college books.  The scholarship is open to all 2011 graduates of THS, having at least a 2.5 high school GPA, that will be attending an accredited college, university or two-year technical college in Fall 2011.

Lithonia, Ga --  The 8th Annual KES Day of Inclusion will be held Saturday June 25, 2011 at the Redan Recreation Center-1839 Phillips Road, Lithonia from 9:00am-5:00pm.

The informative and enriching day long celebration begins with the annual Community Forum that will help foster and promote networking,coalition-building and better community awareness.The empowering and festive day long celebration impacts community advocacy, helps develope community support for resources to improve community support services.

The KES Community Day of Inclusion promotes support for the on-going need to provide and increase funding for community based housing and other support services for the developmentally and physically challenged in our community.

Entitled “Devyne Stephens’ 40th Birthday Extravaganza: Fantasy Island,” the affair took place at a private mansion called “Dreamland” and was complete with a laser show, hula dancers greeting guests, and a stunning performance by R&B newcomers Timothy Bloom and V. WEEKEND EVENTS: Decatur Beach Party, Let's Move! and Friday Frenzy

DECATUR, Ga. -- There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Via Metromix Atlanta: This weekend, Decatur Square will be transformed into a sandy beach for the Decatur Beach Party 2011. The party will be complete with boardwalk games and a seaside soundtrack. The city brings in 60 tons of sand to make the downtown square into a beach, with wading pools as a waterfront. Bands include Doug Brake and the Sizzle Hiss Pop Band, Decatur’s own The Dammages, and Terry Lee and the GT’s. For more information check www.decaturdba.com.

Atlanta Rollergirls will hold their June Bouts on Saturday at the Shriners Temple on Ponce de Leon. The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association works to help strengthen women’s sports. The skaters do this for the fun of it and bring their own talents to the rink.
