ATLANTA – Ready to frolic with the rich and famous, be fabulous and have a fun with fashion? Check out the festivities for Atlanta’s second annual “Fashions Night Out” event. Atlanta is, once again, participating as an official host city for the annual celebration.

Fashion’s Night Out is a celebration incepted in 2009 in New York as an “after-hours shopping extravaganza”. The event is designed to allow celebrities and designers the opportunity to mingle with shoppers and participate in exclusive events.

This event does more than celebrate fashion; it enables designers to bring iconic fashion staples like the Diane von Furstenburg “wrap dress” to your front door. Showcasing the DVF fall collection, popular Paces Ferry boutique, Sandpiper will be holding a patio party on Thursday night.

And if you take a trip downtown, you have a shot at being a celebrity for a day.

ATLANTAThe Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech 2011-12 season continues with high energy chamber music ensemble PROJECT Trio on Friday, September 30 at 12 p.m and 5 p.m.   Both shows are free and will be held outdoors in the amphitheater to the right of the Ferst Center, weather permitting.

PROJECT Trio is comprised of three virtuosic composer/performers from Brooklyn, NY.

New courtroom to open at DeKalb Recorders Court

New courtroom to open at DeKalb Recorders Court

DECATUR, Ga. -- A brand new Recorders Court courtroom will open at the DeKalb County Recorders Court Wednesday morning.

The new courtroom came about in the creative inspiration of Chief Judge Nelly Withers and her executive team. The judge decided to convert a storage area into a courtroom to improve court capacity and reduce wait times.

Judge Withers, her family and courthouse employees painted the new courtroom in their free time, while a police officer with carpentry skills built the judge's bench while he was off-duty.

The courtroom will officially be unveiled at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Cases will be heard in the courtroom immediately, with full implementation underway by October. This additional courtroom will result in 25 percent extra capacity in Recorders Court.

DeKalb County Recorders Court is located at 3620 Camp Circle in Decatur.

FRIDAY GIRL TV HOSTS PANEL DISCUSSION AT SPELMAN COLLEGE


August 30, 2011—Atlanta based multimedia production company, Girl Genius Productions, in conjunction with web show for women, Friday Girl TV, will host The Talk Back: The Sex Kitten vs. The Super Brain, a panel discussion on African American women in media at Spelman College on September 24, 2011. The panel discussion is the first in a three part series of art, culture and technology events geared toward entertaining and educating audiences as it relates to creating positive imagery by, for and about women of color. The series will be held in the Cosby Auditorium located on the Spelman College campus.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Friday Girl TV Co- Founder/Host, October Rose.

WEEKEND EVENTS: Dralion, Summer Shade Festival and German Bierfest Atlanta

ATLANTA – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

This weekend is the first week for Cirque du Soleil’s new show, Dralion, the show fuses together 3000-year-old Chinese acrobatic arts and the Cirque du Soleil approach. The show’s name is derived from dragons which symbolize the East and the lion which symbolizing the West. Dralion tickets are available at Ticketmaster and the show will be held at Philips Arena. Philips Arena is located at One Philips Drive in Atlanta.

Woodruff Park will play host to the German Bierfest Atlanta on Saturday. This is the eighth festival of its type and it will celebrate the greatness of German beer in a family environment. The festival will feature German food, activities, music and fun. The festival will be held from 2:00 p.m.
