5K Walk at Stone Mountain Park to Help Raise Awareness of Childhood Obesity

Stone Mountain, GA -- (from Live Healthy and Thrive) Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation will hold a "Walk for Healthy Kids" 5K Walk at Stone Mountain Park on April 23. This grassroots fundraiser is the inaugural walk for the Foundation and all proceeds will benefit the non-profit organization.

The Atlanta Braves have partnered with the Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation to offer free home-game tickets compliments of the "Reach Out Be Our Guest" Program for the walk participants who raise the most money in donations for the 5K Walk.

The 5K walk will be held Saturday, April 23 at Stone Mountain Park from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. Walkers will convene at the Studdard Picnic Area. Pre- registration is a $10 donation and includes complimentary beverages and a souvenir t-shirt. Participants are encouraged to register on-line at http://livehealthyandthriveyouthwalk.eventbrite.com or by calling 800-551-3775.

Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation encourages all walk participants to raise a minimum of $25 in pledges. These funds will help support community programs aimed at teaching kids ages 6 to 12 about healthy food, nutrition, and fitness. "This event is intended to draw attention to the rising epidemic of obesity and diabetes in children and shine a light on the work of Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation as we attempt to make a positive difference in the Atlanta region," said Chef Marvin Woods.

The theme of walk is "Unite for Healthy Kids, The Next Generation" which is also listed as a cause on Facebook benefiting the organization. For more information about the Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, please visit www.livehealthyandthriveyouth.org.
