Random Acts of Kindness: Susan G. Komen 3-Day team

Random Acts of Kindness: Susan G. Komen 3-Day team

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Today's random act of kindness is for a very special Susan G. Komen 3-day team, Booby Traps.

Every year, volunteers, activists, and runners alike with Susan G. Komen strive to raise funds and educate people about breast cancer.

This year, team Booby Traps raised more than $20,000 towards that goal. Team Booby Traps' Angel Goldman was also one of this year's top fundraisers for the 3-day overall.

The Susan G. Komen 3-day strikes a chord with Lester Crowell and Three-13 Salon, Spa & Boutique who wanted to get involved in 11Alive's random acts of kindness.

LITHONIA, Ga. -- Today's Random Act of Kindness is for Valerie Harris Ddurham of Lithonia.

Valerie has been living without central air conditioning for a while now. The unit she currently has is about 20 years old, and beyond repair. To cope, Valerie purchases temporary units to get by. Valerie doesn't worry about herself, but rather about helping and taking care of others.

Thanks to a generous donation from Central Heating and Air Conditioning, 11Alive was able to help surprise Valerie with a very special random act of kindness.

Visit the Georgia Mountains

Visit the Georgia Mountains

Have you ever driven through the Georgia Mountains? It is an amazing experience. The drive to Helen through the mountains is breath taking. You have to be comfortable driving around curves and getting a little light headed now and then, but the view is picture perfect every single mile. Then once you get down to Helen, make sure to take your appetite with you because the food is delicious and the sceneray is a place you want to make sure you take in.

The last time I went down to Helen we went Horse Back Riding and Tubing. The tubing was even $5. Fun for $5. That is what I always look for, or free if I can get it.

In addition to Helen, there are literally hundreds of awesome spots in the North Ga. Mountains that so few people know about. Small Ma & Pop owned diners, cabin rentals, specialty campgrounds and much more. Stop by and see what to do in the North Ga Mountains.
