DeKalb County's unemployment rate rises to 10.5 percent

ATLANTA – According to State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in the metro Atlanta area increased to 10.4 percent in January, up three-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 10.1 percent in December.

Previously, in 2010, the jobless rate in the metro Atlanta area was 10.7 percent. Unemployment in DeKalb County, currently, sits at 10.5 percent. The rate increased because of layoffs in manufacturing, construction and administrative and support services.
