Popular Play about Muslim American Families to Re-Show during Eid Weekend at Georgia State

Atlanta, GA--  Come and be the proverbial “fly-on-the-wall” as four Muslim couples use love, laughter, and faith to choose their next path in marriage.  The young newly-weds face outside temptation in the work place; while, another couple decide how to conceive a child when the wife is barren.  Have you ever wondered how polygamy works in Islam?  Meet two families who are trying to make it work. 

Local playwright and producer Yvette Suhailah West uses life experiences to show us “more than one” way to live and love in the name of marriage.  The play is energetic, emotional, and informative!

ARTStation and the City of Stone Mountain launch the Stone Mountain Artists Microenterprise Program

Atlanta, GA--  In continuing the movement to improve its economic status, the City of Stone Mountain and ARTStation, in collaboration with DeKalb County, will launch the Stone Mountain Arts Microenterprise Program (Arts Incubator) Friday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. on the plaza near City Hall, 922 Main St. in Stone Mountain.

The Mission of the Stone Mountain Artists Microenterprise Program is to plan for, build, develop, foster, and to nurture a creative economy in the City of Stone Mountain, Georgia.  This mission is to be achieved by providing five microenterprise opportunities to artists.

The 6th Annual Rice Festival held at Stone Mtn. Park, October 9th

Atlanta, GA--  This weekend on October 9th, the 6th Annual Rice Festival will once again give tribute to Asian culture and the Asian American community.  The Rice Festival is the annual fundraising event of the Asian American Resource Center, a nonprofit organization providing social and educational services to immigrants in the metro-Atlanta area. 

There will be dancers, musicians, martial artists, and food and accessories vendors representing the diversity of the Asian American community in metro-Atlanta. An exciting aspect of this year's Rice Festival is that Taste of Korea booths will be available through a partnership with the South Korean Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to publicize Korean food overseas. Korean cuisine has received increasing media attention in the United States during recent years.

Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, September 25, 2010, the High will participate in the sixth annual Smithsonian Museum Day, presented by Toyota on behalf of the redesigned 2011 Avalon. The High will join participating museums and cultural institutions nationwide to open their doors free of charge to all visitors who download the Museum Day Ticket from www.smithsonian.com.

Visitors to the High can view “Salvador Dali: The Late Work,” “Signs of Life: Photographs by Peter Sekaer” and the museum’s permanent collection.

The Museum Day Ticket is available to download at www.smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the official pass will gain free admission for two people to participating museums and cultural venues. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.
