'A Broadway Christmas Carol' opens Dec. 5

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The ART Station Theatre's production of A Broadway Christmas Carol will open early next month.

According to a release from the Stone Mountain theater, the production sets Charles Dickens' story of Ebenezer Scrooge to song parodies of popular Broadway tunes.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- This year's DeKalb International Food and Music Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 19 at Northlake Mall.

The event, which will be held from noon to 6 p.m., is coordinated by county Commissioner Stan Watson.

"We are excited to bring back the DeKalb International Food and Musical Festival, and I am confident that the festival will unite the dynamic blend of cultures and traditions that continue to exist in our country," Watson said in a statement.

The International Food and Music Festival celebrates DeKalb residents' many cultures, including Asian, African, West Indian and Middle Eastern. Planned festivities include shopping, food sampling and a Children's Village with puppet shows and face painting; admission to the kids' section is $10.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The Southeast's largest outdoor arts and crafts festival will celebrate its 45th year in 2013.

The Yellow Daisy Festival will return to Stone Mountain Park Sept. 5-8.

More than 400 artists participate in the event every year. There is also food, live music and fun for the entire family. Admission is free with a $10 parking pass.

'Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class' coming to ART Station

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Sister Robert Anne's Cabaret Class will begin its run in Stone Mountain this week.

The musical extravaganza follows the antics of a street-smart nun who knows everything about making it in the world of show business -- and isn't afraid to share her advice with the world.

Sister Robert opens Thursday, June 6 and runs through Sunday, June 23. Tickets are $25 for adults and $21 for students and seniors.

All performances are at the ART Station Theatre in historic Stone Mountain Village.

ATLANTA -- The incredible voices of the 10 teen finalists in Variety of Georgia’s Stars of Tomorrow competition echoed through the halls of the Fox Theatre Sunday evening, but one voice in particular carried above the rest. Meagan Sharp, a sophomore at the University of Georgia, dazzled the crowd with her outstanding performance and was crowned the winner of Variety’s second annual vocal competition.

“The level of talent was off the charts,” said Variety of Georgia Executive Director Chase Evangeline Andrews. “Each of the finalists gave stunning performances, and I’m sure the judges had a difficult time determining the winner of the evening.”

Stone Mountain Village presents Blue Grassroots Festival

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The fourth annual Blue Grassroots Music & Arts Festival will rock Stone Mountain later this month.

According to Main Street Stone Mountain Inc., the festival will feature more than 100 artists and artisans, along with bluegrass music, food and a kids' play area.

Professional and amateur musicians alike are invited to bring their instruments and jam along at designated spots throughout the festival.

The Blue Grassroots Music & Arts Festival will be held Saturday, Mar. 23 and Sunday, Mar. 24 in Stone Mountain Village, just outside Stone Mountain Park's West Gate. Parking and admission are free.
