BEST SPOTS: Inexpensive Dates

EAST METRO – For this week’s installment of Best Spots, we’re compiling a list of Inexpensive Date Spots for you to take your special someone.

In today’s economy, it’s important to find companionship which, in our opinion, is the cheapest form of entertainment. However, it’s the springtime, and people like to get out every now and then. So, check out these suggestions for fun under $15.

If your date loves indie music, take them to famous live music venue and rooftop grill, Eddie’s Attic. This venue is home to acts like Sugarland and John Mayer. For about $15, you and your date can enjoy a live show and plate of famous attic beignets. To view a full show schedule and purchase tickets visit Eddie’s at 515-B N. McDonough Street in Decatur.

If you want to take your date on an exciting picnic, take them to the Stone Mountain Lasershow Spectacular. The show is free with the purchase of a $10 vehicle entrance to the park. Visitors can bring their own blankets and lawn chairs and picnic baskets for a night, enjoying the lights. The Lasershow Spectacular can be seen every Saturday night until May 28, after which it can be seen nightly.

Take your date to a concert on the Covington Square. Sponsored by the Arts Association, Honda of Conyers and the United Bank of Covington will hold weekly concerts on the city square. Talent from all over will come and perform, free of charge. Covington Square is located at 1106 Washington Street in Downtown Covington.

If you think you date is a star, take them to the Fernbank Planetarium, one of the largest planetariums in the United States. You and your date can wish upon a star in this celestial theater that showcases every planet and major constellation. If the sky is clear and you want to stay late, you can stargaze in the museums observatory. Admission to the planetarium is $4.
