Stone Mountain launches Streetscape Phase 1 Project

Atlanta, GA--  DeKalb County Commissioners Sharon Barnes Sutton and Connie Stokes, along with Stone Mountain Mayor Patricia Wheeler, Congressman Hank Johnson, State Sen. Steve Henson, State Rep. Billy Mitchell, and Former Stone Mountain Mayor Gary Peet joined members of the community on Friday, Oct. 8 for the unveiling of the City of Stone Mountain’s Streetscape Phase 1 Project at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The City of Stone Mountain and ARTStation, in collaboration with DeKalb County, hosted the event as part of a continued movement to improve the city’s economic status.  The event was filled with a host of festivities that support the economic growth and development of the City of Stone Mountain, including a ribbon cutting, the unveiling of a public art piece, and the launch of the Stone Mountain Artists Microenterprise Program.

The Stone Mountain Artists Microenterprise Program is an initiative created by ARTStation and the City of Stone Mountain to build, develop, and nurture a sustainable, creative economy within the city limits. The initiative was funded from a $240,000 Microeconomic Fund grant managed by the DeKalb County Community Development Department to attract local residents and tourists to the City of Stone Mountain.
