Salvation Army Concludes its 2010 Angel Tree Toy Distribution Today

What: December 21, The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta will wrap up its 2010 Angel Tree program with toy distributions to the families of over 892 Dekalb County children from low-income households.

Throughout the day, The Salvation Army staff and volunteers will distribute unwrapped new holiday toys, clothing and other gift items donated by local residents and businesses to local children in need.

The parents of the registered children will arrive at pre-scheduled times to receive their holiday gift items that range from new bikes, dolls and doll-houses, to hats, scarves, and other warm-weather items.

In 2010, The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Area Command has distributed more than 30,000 gift items to local children and elderly through its Angel Tree Program.

With three days remaining, The Salvation Army Red Kettle program has raised 60% of its $2.1 million fundraising goal.  Its direct mail and other efforts are about 19% below prior year funds raised to date.

2010 monetary donations may be made online at www.salvationarmyatlanta.org.
