Making DeKalb Beautiful One Volunteer at a Time

DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer, Keep DeKalb Beautiful program and board members recently acknowledged community volunteers with a volunteer appreciation luncheon.

This year’s theme, Making DeKalb Beautiful One Volunteer at a Time, celebrated the volunteers’ true commitment and dedication to the development of the Keep DeKalb Beautiful Program.  

This year, more than 4,000 Keep DeKalb Beautiful volunteers spent more than 14,500 hours cleaning and maintaining 207 miles of DeKalb County.  A total of 53,040 pounds of litter and 356 tires were collected by KDB volunteers and dedicated adoption groups.  Every volunteer group was honored with a certificate for their achievements.

This year’s first place award winners were: Adopt A Road, Individual Volunteer Service, Adopt A MARTA Bus Stop, Martin Luther King, Jr. High School, The Parkview Civic Club, The Kiwanis Club of Northlake, Mrs. Peggy Allen, Roads & Drainage Division.
