DEKALB COUNTY, GA -- Keep DeKalb Beautiful (KDB) and the DeKalb County Sanitation Division will celebrate the 20th annual "Bring One for the Chipper" event in January.

KDB asks that DeKalb County residents recycle their Christmas trees after the holidays through the DeKalb County Sanitation Division's Curbside Recycling Program.

DeKalb residents receiving sanitation services can place their tree at the curb for pick-up on regular yard collection waste day. Trees should be seven feet or smaller; trees eight feet or larger must be cut in half for pick-up.

The recycled trees will be chipped into mulch or used as wildlife habitat. Mulch is used for public beautification projects and is also available free to DeKalb County residents. KDB has partnered with Davey Tree Expert Company to deliver the free Christmas tree mulch.

With an average of 10,000 trees recycled each year in DeKalb, KDB would like to encourage residents to participate in this annual program.

For more information on Christmas tree recycling and mulch, contact KDB either via email or at 404-371-2654.
