Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, September 18 at Wade Walker Park in Stone Mountain, Dekalb's Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton hosted the "Overcome Ovarian Cancer 3k Walk".

The purpose of the event was to simply increase awareness about detection and prevention of ovarian cancer.  The Commissioner nominated Elder Bernice King, Martin Luther King's daughter, as Honorary Chair of the event and she came out to attend and further progress the mission of cancer awareness.

Dekalb Commissioner Sutton said that, "ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the US. It is important that we disseminate information to the public so they can learn about the warning signs."
