Children in Need get Help from the 11th Annual 'Tree of Love' Program

Atlanta, GA--  The Tree of Love is a holiday celebration to assist children  living in DeKalb who because of their circumstances --- foster care, single-parent low income household, etc.,  may not have a Merry Christmas.  This is the 11th year that Commissioner Larry Johnson, DeKalb District 3, has sponsored this initiative.   Commissioner Johnson is quoted as saying: “This is what Christmas is all about, helping and giving to others. The holiday season is a great time for people to give back to the community and help someone in need.”

The kick-off for the event will be Saturday, November 27, 2010 beginning at Noon at the Gallery at South DeKalb Mall, 2801 Candler Road, Decatur, Georgia 30034.  The community, business owners and churches are invited to come out and take a child’s name from the Tree of Love.  Gifts will be due back, Saturday, December 18, 2010 when the annual Tree of Love Christmas Program will take place at South DeKalb Mall beginning at Noon.

Individuals and or groups interested in showcasing their talents for the Christmas Program in December can contact the Office of Commissioner Larry Johnson 404-371-2988 to sign up.
