Atlanta, GA--  Do you have the cutest dog in Atlanta?  Everyone thinks their pup is the cutest, but now it's time to put your pooch to the test!  Submit your dog’s photo for the Metromix Atlanta's Cutest Dog Contest! Out of all the entries received, Metromix will select four groups of 25 dogs to compete for a spot in the finals.  The top two dogs in each group with the most votes will move on to the finals and compete for the grand prize.

Bishop Eddie Long Accused of Coercion

LITHONIA, GA -- Two men are accusing Bishop Eddie Long of exploiting his role as pastor of an Atlanta-area megachurch to coerce them into sexual relationships.

Maurice Robinson, 20, and Anthony Flagg, 21, had been members of Long's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.

They say they were only 17 and 18 when Long abused his spiritual authority to seduce them with cars, money, clothes, jewelry, international trips and access to celebrities.

Each filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday. Their attorney, B.J.

Free Entrance to The High Museum of Art this Saturday, Sept. 25th. See Salvador Dali for Free!

Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, September 25, 2010, the High will participate in the sixth annual Smithsonian Museum Day, presented by Toyota on behalf of the redesigned 2011 Avalon. The High will join participating museums and cultural institutions nationwide to open their doors free of charge to all visitors who download the Museum Day Ticket from www.smithsonian.com.

Visitors to the High can view “Salvador Dali: The Late Work,” “Signs of Life: Photographs by Peter Sekaer” and the museum’s permanent collection.

The Museum Day Ticket is available to download at www.smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the official pass will gain free admission for two people to participating museums and cultural venues. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.

Governor’s Office Accepting Applications for DeKalb County Solicitor-General

Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that his office will begin accepting applications for Solicitor-General of DeKalb County to succeed the Honorable Robert D. James in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 15-18-60.

Individuals qualified for the position under O.C.G.A. § 15-18-62 must complete and submit an application to the Governor’s Office by Thursday, September 30, 2010. Applications may be sent by mail to 201 State Capitol, Atlanta, GA 30334 or by fax to 404-656-5948. Electronic submissions to rgreenway@gov.state.ga.us will also be accepted.

Gwinnett County Student Earns a Perfect ACT Score

Atlanta, GA--  The ACT college entrance exam assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.  Eric Awtry, a senior at Mill Creek High School, is one of the very few students in America that will be sending prospective colleges a perfect ACT (American College Testing) score.

The ACT is scored on a scale of 1 to 36 and consists of English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. The students' composite score is the average of the 4 subject scores.

Eric is currently taking AP Physics and AP Calculus, and plans to pursue a career in Aerospace Engineering.

Dekalb Commissioner Sharon Sutton and Bernice King Led 3K Walk to Overcome Ovarian Cancer

Atlanta, GA--  On Saturday, September 18 at Wade Walker Park in Stone Mountain, Dekalb's Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton hosted the "Overcome Ovarian Cancer 3k Walk".

The purpose of the event was to simply increase awareness about detection and prevention of ovarian cancer.  The Commissioner nominated Elder Bernice King, Martin Luther King's daughter, as Honorary Chair of the event and she came out to attend and further progress the mission of cancer awareness.

Dekalb Commissioner Sutton said that, "ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the US. It is important that we disseminate information to the public so they can learn about the warning signs."
